From Tampa, Florida the ship docks at the island of Cozumel, Mexico, on the Carnival Inspiration cruise ship.

This event will feature an “All-Star” lineup of salsa performers and instructors, and a non-stop schedule of workshops, performances, beach parties, pool parties and nightly salsa parties to great salsa music, being played by world famous salsa Dj's.

ABC JD Penguin's reunion

A classic place to dance salsa in the early 2000's was the ABC JD Penguin's on Hillsborough Avenue.
The place has since shut down, although the liquor store is still there.

The Latin Rhythms' Tropical Social will be held in the Fernando R. Mesa Ballroom at the historic Cuban Club of Ybor City. The ballroom features a hardwood floor (with plenty of space to dance) and a full- liquor cash bar (with inexpensive drink prices).

Secure and covered parking available (adjacent to the Cuban Club) in the Palm Avenue garage (located at the corner of 13th St. & Palm Ave.). Be sure to bring your parking ticket with you and show it at the registration table to receive your parking voucher ($6 parking fee is included in admission price).

On this day in August, 2009, The Hav-A-Tampa cigar factory closes shop - J.C. Newman Cigar company becomes the last major cigar maker.

The Hav-A-Tampa cigar was first produced in Tampa, in 1902. They were one of the first cigar companies to bring in machinery to automate the cigar-making process.
