On this date in Tampa history

An interesting fact for this date in Tampa History (October 8, 1885)

Ybor City tidbit
Spanish born Vicente Martinez Ybor and Ignacio Haya, 2 cigar makers, started building the first of two cigar factories and casitas (little houses) to attract a workforce from Cuba and Spain.

Earlier that same year (September 1885)
Mr. Ybor purchased 90 acres of swamp land to the northeast of downtown Tampa, now known as Ybor City.
