Tampa, FL: In 2001, a group of students, professors, university personnel and activists began a dialogue about how to solve the gaps that exist for communities across our state. In 2002, the Florida Institute
for Community Studies (FICS) was born, with a mission of “partnering with communities across Florida to help them achieve their goals through research, service, education and training.”

Now, eight years later, FICS extends an open invitation to our community partners, new partners and the greater Tampa Bay area celebrate our past, present and especially our future at our Mambo Number 8, FICS Anniversary Party on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Doubletree Hotel, Westshore, 500 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and silent auction begin at 6:30 PM and the festivities kick off at 7:30 PM. In keeping with the Mambo theme, we invite participants to dress in 40’s style Mambo clothing, such as zootsuits! There will be plenty of opportunity to Mambo! As our main fundraiser for the year, we also invite sponsors and donors to the event.

More details will continue to be released. Tickets are on sale now and include: the happy hour/hors d’oeuvres, dinner, entertainment, beverage and dessert at $40/person and $75/couple. Did we mention it’s tax-deductible? Learn more at www.ficsinc.org, which includes our calendar of events. The mission of the Florida Institute for Community Studies (FICS) is to partner with communities across Florida to help them achieve their goals through research, service, education and training. We are a statewide non-profit organization that reaches over two thousand people annually through our programming. For more information, please contact FICS at 813.249.8100.
